ONLY LULLABIES

“Only Lullabies” blends art rock, country, krautrock and Russian folk into a strange, tender musical fairytale. Sung in English, it follows a bird-man wandering through a forest after lost love, searching for a way forward. A lullaby about belonging, hope and finding your own kind, the song opens a window into Keel the Barber!’s surreal world.

ONLY LULLABIES

At the heart of this song is the story of a bird-man who has lost his love and finds himself alone in a vast, unfamiliar world.

As he wanders through the forest, searching for a way out, he begins to write lullabies — songs to help him cope with loss, soothe his inner child, and hold on to the hope of finding someone who will share this world with him.

It’s a story about growing up, love and separation, about searching for a place to belong, and how, even after wandering for so long, it’s possible to find a new home.

Sometimes, all it takes is hearing someone else’s voice and realising that you’re not the only bird pretending to be human.
